If you're involved in international trade, understanding the AD Code registration process is essential. An AD Code, or Authorized Dealer Code, is a 14-digit number issued by banks, which allows businesses to make international transactions with ease.
In this blog, we'll cover everything you need to know about obtaining and registering an AD Code for your business, along with the required documents and step-by-step procedures.
An AD Code is a unique 14-digit number issued by a bank on its letterhead to exporters with a business account. It is required for both importing and exporting goods and is essential for businesses engaging in foreign transactions.
After acquiring the Import Export Code (IEC) from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), you can apply for an AD Code to facilitate smoother international trade operations.
Step 1: Approach Your Bank Start by contacting a bank authorized to issue AD Codes. You must have a business current account with the bank.
Step 2: Complete the Application Form Obtain and accurately complete the AD Code application form provided by the bank. Include details about your business and the purpose of the code.
Step 3: Submit the necessary supporting documents to complete your application for the AD Code.
Step 4: Verification and Approval The bank will review your application and documents. Upon verification, the bank will issue the AD Code on its letterhead.
Step 5: Register with Custom House Agents (CHA) After obtaining the AD Code, you need to register it with the Custom House Agents (CHA) at each port from which you plan to export.

Next, go to the ICEGATE website and log in using your credentials. After logging in, update your profile with all necessary details.
Make sure to provide accurate information in the "Foreign Remittance A/C" section, where you will input your bank account details for foreign transactions related to export activities.
This ensures that your account is properly linked to receive export promotion benefits.
In your ICEGATE dashboard, navigate to the "Bank A/c Export Promotion Incentive" section and click on "Add New Account." Fill in your bank account details, including your Bank A/C Number, IFSC Code, and Location Code.

Once confirmed, your AD Code details will be updated on the ICEGATE portal. This process typically takes a few days, after which your AD Code will be registered, allowing your business to comply with international trade regulations effectively.
